Gestural Ode, 2015, pigment print

After reading Werner Herzog’s journal Of Walking in Ice, an account of his attempt to

prolong the life of his dying mentor by walking from Munich to Paris during the winter of

1974, the foundations for a new project were laid. On first reading his account seemed

flecked with inconsistencies & impossibility, yet she felt so propelled by the optimism &

absurdity of the gesture that she set out to complete it 40 years later. The result is that

collapsed image. A single abstract photograph exposed from beginning to end, over one

month, across two countries.
